Forms of Mediumship
Mediumship consists of various fields or disciplines, each with their own specific characteristics and skills or specialisations of the medium.
Psychic
mediumship
Psychic comes from the Greek 'tis psychis' meaning 'of the soul'.
In this form of mediumship, the medium connects with the soul of the person sitting opposite him/her, called the receiver. The medium hereby 'reads' the energy of the receiver or of an object the receiver shows or gives him/her.
Through 'reading', a medium can see the thread of the recipient's life. In this case, it looks specifically at sequences of events to uncover patterns and a common thread with the aim of providing guidance for the future.
During a sitting, the information comes mainly from the medium. Some mediums like to ask what areas of life (work, personal development,...) their recipient is coming for, others work without any prior information.
Features:
- It is specifically about the life of the recipient
- The medium reads the energy of the receiver
- Psychic mediumship is not a prediction of the future
The medium uses the thread of the recipient's life as a basis for uncovering patterns and blind spots, and thus giving him or her insights and tools for the future. - In contrast to mental mediumship (see below), there is no communication with guides or deceased of the recipient.
Other forms of mediumship that can be placed under the same heading:
- Cardreading: reading through a card reading
- Psychometry: reading the energy of an object
- Photoreading: reading the energy of a photo
- Flower Seances: reading the energy of a flower chosen by the recipient
- Psychic Art: A drawing or painting developed through the influences of the recipient's energy, as in aurate drawing.
Perception
mediumship
With this form of mediumship, the information comes through communication with the Spiritworld. Communication with loved ones (Evidential sitting) or guides (with spiritual assessment).
Perception mediumship is a form of mental mental. The mind of the medium converts the perception of the medium into an image, feeling, sound,... in order to pass on clear evidence and messages. No objects, photos or other physical recognition points are needed for this.
Senses of the medium, which are used in both psychic and mediumistic mediumship:
- Clairvoyant: perception of images that are not normally perceptible
- Objective: The medium sees the image outside itself
- Subjective: The medium sees the image in his mind
- Clairaudient: perception of sounds that are normally inaudible
- Objective: The medium hears the sounds outside himself
- Subjective: The medium hears the sounds in his mind
- Clairsentience: perception of feelings that are normally imperceptible
- Clairvoyant: perception of a knowing that is normally imperceptible
- Clairgustance: perception of tastes that are normally imperceptible
- Objective: The medium tastes the flavour effectively
- Subjective: The medium tastes the flavour in his/her mind
- Clairalience: perception of odours that are not normally perceptible
- Objective: The medium effectively smells the odour
- Subjective: The medium smells the odour in his mind
Features:
- Direct communication with the Spiritworld (loved ones or guides of the recipient)
- All communication takes place through the medium
- Loved ones in Spirit make themselves known to and through the medium by providing clear details about themselves
- Loved ones communicate to assure that they are still part of the recipients life and are guiding him or her, without advising or telling the recipient what choices to make
- Loved ones in Spirit never predict the future
- Messages are often very specific, detailed and clearly identifiable
- Sometimes questions are answered
Trance mediumship
Trance, like perception mediumship, is a form of mental mediumship.
During trance, the medium goes into another state of consciousness.
It is not the case that the medium is taken over by Spirit. Think of it more as if the medium is in a very deep meditation where the consciousness is lower.
With trance mediumship it can be that the medium's voice sounds different and that the medium is able to speak other languages that he/she was not able to do before. It depends on the soul world whether this happens or not.
Features:
- Direct communication with the Spirit World (loved ones)
- The medium goes into a trance (lower level of consciousness) and thus conveys the messages
- When a trance medium is working, you feel that the energy in the room is different. It is possible that you may feel more relaxed while observing it
Spirit portray artists
A Spirit portray artist is able to make a sketch of the face of the loved one in Spirit without any prior information or photograph from them.
A loved one in Spirit chooses how to show themselves to the Spirit artist.
So it is not by default that they show themselves in the way they looked just before they died. It is more common that they show themselves as they were in a photograph taken during their physical life.
Healing
Magnetisation / Psychic healing
This form of healing is often used to heal one specific place or area of the body. The medium sends the energy to perform the healing. This healing is effective but short-lived.
Spirithealing
From spirit - through spirit - to spirit
With spirit healing, the Spiritworld determines what is healed. The healing comes from the Spiritworld, passes through the spirit of the medium to the spirit of the receiver, after which it spreads to the places where it is needed. The medium himself has no control over where the healing is going to.
Forms:
- Contact Healing
In contact healing, the medium places his or her hands on the body of the recipient to transmit the healing energy. - Distant healing
This form of healing is used when, for whatever reason, physical contact is not desired or possible. In this method, the medium heals by building up an energy field and making contact with the Spiritworld. - Absent healing
Absent healing, also called "a prayer for healing", is the only form of healing that does not require permission from the receiver. It is a form of healing where the receiver is not in the same room. - Trance healing
The medium in this case, as in all forms of trance mediumship, will be in a different state of consciousness and will be fully guided by his or her guide team.
Physical
mediumship
In physical mediumship, ectoplasm is formed and manifests itself in a certain form.
The big difference with other forms of mediumship is that with this form, every person - including non-mediums and sceptical people - can perceive the Spiritworld in the same way and at the same time.
Less than 10 per cent of all mediums in the world are physical mediums.
Some forms:
- Direct voice:Here the Spiritworld manifests a kind of voice box through which it communicates.
- Transfiguration:the Spiritworld literally shows itself in the ectoplasm
